Last night was fantastic. I didn't go to bed until 4am. All my birthday wishes came true. Life is bright and full of joy. We stayed local and checked out a bar with a club downstairs. The club was shady and the music could hardly be called that, but it was a lot of fun. I danced with gay friend again. It's so much fun to dance with him. I've concluded that it sucks that he's gay. My roomie made me a cake! ( cut! )I designed her cake with a Star Trek theme for her birthday, so she was having a tough time trying to figure out what to do for mine. Apparently she Googled "Loveless" and a lot of the images came up with butterflies, so that's what inspired her. I loved it, lol. Oh hers we ate around the Star Trek emblem. For mine, we are eating around the butterfly! ( cut! )Tonight another friend came over and made me dinner. I definitely need to celebrate my birthday more often. |

What If? Meme @ naruto_meme
For all interested parties, there's a What if? writing meme going on at naruto_meme. Curious about how the series would change if a particular event hadn't taken plcae? Me & the Sidecar
Most of the photos I have of someone on or around Smutyanka are of Marc because, well, I’m the photographer. But, while Marc was running back to our apartment to get another section of hose for yesterday’s air intake hose project, I set the camera on the bike seat and took a couple of me resting in the sidecar. When I got back, Marc took this shot of me:
I can almost completely lie down. I can stretch my legs all the way out, and if I had about 3 more inches where the seat back is, I could lay down completely. The sidecar is really far, far roomier than it looks, believe me. It also is surprisingly secure. When we first started riding around, I used to hold onto the “oh shit bar” on the sidecar for dear life. Now I don’t hold onto anything, and usually sit with my hands in my lap. If we weren’t driving around busy streets, I’d definitely feel comfortable reading, or even sleeping, in there. Here are the original shots I took:

New Air Intake Hoses
As I mentioned in my last post, we replaced Smutyanka’s air intake hoses today. This was our third, and finally successful, try. Our first attempt was with aircraft hose, which was too big (2in, when our diameter is 1.75in). Then, we bought rubber hosing (rated to the proper temperature) that was the right diameter, but it was too stiff and ended up crimping instead of curving. Marc was feeling somewhat at the end of his rope as to what to do about these hoses, when he suddenly had a breakthrough idea last night while I was out buying groceries: combine the two!
